A Beginner's Guide to AI BL Dramas: What They Are and How to Enjoy Them
Since the start of 2026, dozens of BL (Boys' Love) dramas made with generative AI have been uploaded to YouTube every single day. Some of these actor-free videos have racked up hundreds of thousands of views, and a few have passed a million. We've organized this guide around the questions newcomers ask most: what AI BL is, and how to enjoy it.
What Is an AI BL Drama?
An AI BL drama is a BL work where a person writes the story and script, and the characters, settings, and movement are created with video-generating AI, then edited together. Creators typically make the visuals and motion scene by scene, add voices or music, and then stitch everything into a single drama. Some works look live-action, while others are drawn like animation or webtoons.
Because the production method is so new, its biggest hallmark is that one person or a small team can attempt large-scale stories in just a few weeks, such as historical dramas, fantasies, and office romances. A Joseon royal palace or an imaginary kingdom that would have cost a fortune in sets and costumes for a conventional drama can now be built by a single channel.
Which Genres Are Popular?
Looking at the works blaiva features by view count, a few trends stand out.
- Historical romance: Works set in an imagined Joseon or an East Asian-style palace are especially strong. The historical drama staples of class differences and feelings that must be hidden pair well with BL.
- Reunion stories and enemies-to-lovers (hate-to-love): A long-lost first love who suddenly reappears, or rivals who become lovers, are stories loved in any language.
- Unusual-premise SF and thrillers: Works that hook you with a single-line premise, like a world where memories are bought and sold or a spy hiding their identity, gather fans as the episodes go on.
- OST music videos: Videos that pair deleted scenes and unreleased cuts from the main story with a song get watched nearly as much as the main episodes.
How to Pick Your First One
AI BL comes in all lengths, from short Shorts to compilations of full series running over 30 minutes. If you're new, try starting with episode 1 of a series that runs 5 to 10 minutes. A single episode introduces the characters and the beginning of their relationship, so you'll quickly know whether it's your taste. If you like it, the most satisfying route is to keep going with the same channel's next episodes and its OST videos.
Another tip is to check the production info. Many creators list in the description which tools they used and who wrote the script. If you look up other channels that use the same tools, you can easily find works with a similar feel.
How Does blaiva Choose Its Works?
blaiva is a service that organizes publicly available AI BL videos so you can browse them in one place. It looks for new videos twice a day and lists only those where the original text shows evidence that the video was made with AI and evidence that it is a BL work. Videos are never downloaded or re-uploaded; they play only through YouTube's official player. View counts and likes are shown exactly as YouTube publishes them.
All rights to the works belong to the original creators. When you find a work you love, please support it on the original channel with likes, subscriptions, and comments. That is the biggest force that helps creators make the next episode.
