〈Love of Unknown Origin〉 Binge-Watching Guide: A Romance in a World Where Memories Are Traded
XEFTLAS channel's 〈Love of Unknown Origin〉 is a sci-fi romance that keeps racking up strong view counts on blaiva with every episode. Its one-line premise, "Memories can be bought and sold, but the body recognizes love," grows wider across five episodes and an OST video, which makes it a series that's especially fun to watch in order. We've kept spoilers to a minimum while laying out the highlights of each episode.
The World in One Line
In this world, memories can be implanted and traded. After receiving a memory implant, the protagonist Han Do-il starts recalling scenes he can't trace to any source, and then he meets the man whose face matches the one in those memories: Cha Ethan. Whose memory is this, and why does Do-il's body react to Ethan? Those are the questions that drive the entire series.
Episode-by-Episode Highlights
EP.01 A Name I Don't Remember
Episode 1 calmly builds the sensation of unfamiliar memories intruding on everyday life. Keep the small warning signs in the early scenes in mind, because they pay off in the final scene, where the face from the memory appears in real life.
EP.02 Signal from an Unknown Sender
The memory of Ethan burrows into Do-il's daily life. As the unexplainable reactions keep repeating, the tension between romance and thriller grows, and this episode firmly establishes the mood of the series.
EP.03 The Wrong Reply
Do-il replies to the signal Ethan sent, and their relationship enters a new phase. What the "wrong" reply of the title changed is the key that leads into Episode 4.
EP.04 Access Permission
In this episode, Do-il approaches Ethan again to set his reply right. Something even Ethan himself can't access appears, and the story expands from the two men's romance to a secret of the world.
EP.05 The Cause of the Error
Going back to the past that shaped the two men's present, this episode shows the beginning of the "error" that pulled their relationship apart. Many of the questions that have built up since Episode 1 pick up here, so be sure to watch in order. A short side story follows the main episode.
Once More with the OST
Apart from the main episodes, XEFTLAS has released three OST music videos. The first track, 〈Call My Name〉, features the trailer and scenes from Episodes 1 and 2; the second, 〈Come to Me〉, features scenes from Episode 3 and scenes not used in the final cut; and the third, 〈Crazy〉, features scenes from Episodes 4 and 5 and from the Episode 6 teaser. If you watch the OST right after the matching episode, the same scenes land with a completely different emotion alongside the music. Turn on the subtitles to follow the lyrics as well.
Recommended Viewing Order
